There are times when I fall asleep pretty fast and there are also times when falling asleep feels like it’s impossible. So for those days when falling asleep becomes a herculean task, I came up with 4 super effective ways that will definitely knock you out into sleep.
By the way, don’t worry they are totally natural. Below are 4 ways to fall asleep faster:
1. Warm milk with honey
I remember that when I was around 7 or 8 years I used to be quite hyperactive – as kids tend to be. And every time my parents brought me in to bed, I would sneak out 5 minutes later and start again playing around in the living room.
Now that would of course annoy my parents quit a bit as they have put me into bed not without a reason. They wanted a bit of time for themselves and participate in some adult business if you know what I mean. In such cases my mother had a trick: she would make me a glass of warm milk with honey. After drinking the milk I wasn’t seen nor heard until the next morning.
2. Write your thoughts down
One of the main reasons why I sometimes cannot fall asleep are the hundreds of thoughts that are flying around in my head seducing me to think about them instead of falling into sleep. I found out that whenever I write those thoughts down into my diary then suddenly my mind becomes silent and calm.
So if you have trouble falling asleep because of the many things you are thinking about then try out writing them down into a notebook or on a piece of paper, or whatever you fancy.
3. No TV, Phones, Laptops, Computers
Recently I read somewhere about a study that tested the influence of electronic displays on the nervous system.
They figured out that the blue light that comes out of electronic displays, such as from smart phones and computers, stimulates the nervous system and basically makes you feel like you are on caffeine. It is recommended to stay away from electronic displays 1hour before you go to bed.
4. Ear plugs baby!
You won’t believe me how many times my ear plugs have saved me form going insane and killing my neighbor. Every time I’m laying in bed and some weird noise pops up from somewhere and starts disturbing my peace – I can’t sleep. I’m highly sound sensitive and it really takes only a few water drops from the kitchen sink to keep me awake.
The only thing that helps me in this kind of situations are ear plugs. So if you happen to be the kind of person whose sleep is easily disturbed by the tiniest external sounds then I highly recommend you to try out using ear plugs.
If you have any other ideas on how to fall asleep faster then feel free to write them down in the comment section below. I would love to hear your ideas.
